Lionel Valot was born in 1955.  He started painting at the age of 12 but it is only the last 10 years when the artists decided to show his work to the world. He considers himself a self taught artist exclusively working in acrylic starting 1991.  It is during this time when the artist started to experiment with airbrush that allows him to more freely work on the background transferring this very feeling of liberty onto his canvases.

After living for 22 years in Paris, the artist moved to the country, in the middle of France. His current house space and geographic location thereof allows him to dive into his work without outside interruptions and thus to better express himself through his work.

Lionel Valot was influenced a lot by the works of Bosch ( and his surreal infernal world ), Delvaux ( and his identical eternal woman ) and Magritte. Artist’s colors have also changed through the time: they became lighter - from purple and brown to dominant blue throughout most of his current paintings.

Lionel Valot has won several public prizes for his work during the 90’s.
