For The Love Of Badminton

Probably among the stages of life, adolescence is the most significant of all. It is on this stage that we learn to love and be loved in return. This is also the part of our lives wherein we face an important aspect of our life which is the sense of belongingness. For a particular adolescent to achieve this, he or she must conform to the norms of the society. However in order to stay away from this kind of dilemma, adolescents must shift their negative feelings to a positive one. One thing done in order to be productive is engaging oneself to sports.

Eventually our parents, who were sitting outside on the porch watching us, called us in to get ready for bed and sent the cousins back home. We set our lightening bugs free and put our jars away, ready to be filled on another evening. As the summer wore on, the katydids started chirping and the number of lightening bugs slowly diminished, going, I suppose, where all lightening bugs go with the coming of fall. The night air started getting nippy and soon it was time for school to start. That was the end of our late evening “Gatherings on the Lawn” until the next summer called us out to play once more.

A tight grip then restricts the amount of power available to these muscles, which only leads to a poor result and disappointment for the player. If you consistently grip the shuttle too tight, then you’re running the risk of injuring your elbow. Tennis or golfers elbow is extremely painful and is frequently caused by your grip being too tight, or your racket grip being too small for the size of your hand.

Do the same exercise again, but this time lift your racket straight over your shoulder as though you are scratching your back. Your elbow should be pointing virtually upright. Can you feel a difference? If you can, that suggests you’re more likely to be using a corkscrew action in your preparation.

Badminton is a good game for the family. It is somewhat like tennis because in both games an object is hit over a net with rackets. But the badminton court is smaller, even smaller than a paddle tennis court, the racket is also stringed like in lawn tennis but lighter, and, this is the main difference, a feathered shuttlecock is hit instead of a ball.

Engage in sports. Time for you to take out that tennis or badminton racket of yours and begin playing with friends again or join some pickup basketball or football games.

Why your feet? Simple. If you haven’t the speed to get behind the badminton shuttle before you hit it, then there is no way you are going to hit a good powerful accurate smash. You need to be behind the shuttle so your bodyweight is ready to move in the direction of your smash. Adding your bodyweight to the smash provides more power.

It’s been many years since I last played Badminton or caught lightening bugs in my front yard, but it doesn’t take much to awaken those memories in my heart. The smell of freshly-cut grass or the deep green scent of a pine tree, the swooshing sound of a birdie being hit by a badminton racket, the keen, echoing chirp of a katydid, and of course, the tiny glow of a lightening bug are all it takes to carry me back to my most treasured childhood memory – Badminton and Lightening Bugs.
